Latest Obessions PT2

As you know, nails are a big big trending topic here at Apparel Candy. There are soooo many colours, designs, shapes, & sizes to choose from. I’ve found myself getting out of the squared shapes when it comes to acrylics (terrible obsession, but

I love em!) & going more into the oval shapes. The oval shapes are super old school, & you seldom ever see anyone my age getting them any more. I always embrace new visions, & on top of my newly shaped nails, are the MOON designs.
I seriously can’t get enough of this look. It all started for me as I was watching an episode of Wendy Williams before work & one of her guests (gosh, I seriously can’t remember her name) came on during the interview, & was rocking this look like now other! She’s actually one of the big named celebrity actresses who pretty much coined this look, & I remember hearing her speak about her website & all about this MOON NAIL or CRESCENT trend.
I went to the BAY AREA last weekend for Identity Festival, & decided to get a fresh new set at a huge spa my aunt told me about in Pittsburg, CA. So I go in & see literaly 50 stations for maniucres, & about 20 stations for pedicures, & spaces for hair, make-up/tattooing, hair removal, you name it.It was like one step close to a brothel for nails. It was crazy, & not even like swap meet type nail salons, it seriously took the crown.

I met with Henry whom I didnt have an appointment with who was from SOCAL just like me; so we clicked. When I told him I wanted an oval shaped with the moon design, he looked at me like I was crazy. I couldn’t blame him since all I saw on their “nail slide show” (from their previous clients) on the flat screen were all typical designs you see in nail salons across LA

He did an OKAY job, as far as painting. I won’t get into the details to why he went about to add 3D art & rhinestones to my crescent deco…. Let’s just say he knew he made a mani boo boo to a first time client who loves her clothes with out air brush paint, where she vouched for all nail polish rather than ANY kind of airbrush. I didn’t want to disrespect him by declining all the perks he was offering to keep me from going nuts, but he should know I’m the nicest gal there is. But that did not mean I liked what he was doing -___- Anyway I got home later on that weekend back to SOCAL and chipped off all the rhinestones that I could. All I wanted was BLACK & WHITE nails- which would have been my little ode to the Coco Chanel. But I’ll have to reinvent for my next set.

I plan on going to my usual spot for a new colourway, but I’m just not set on which colours to choose. I must add that I’ve been digging the “silverish-reflective-chrome” look. Hopefully I can come across that shade. Until then here are some of my favourites that have been on rotation on fashion-nail-beauty-culture blogs all over the interweb!
