Archive for the ‘Fashion News’ CategoryRoar!!Tuesday, August 30th, 2011Animal prints are one of those trends that many women of all shapes, sizes, & color can drape over their skin to look as seductive & as sexy as any icon dawning in the magazines we pick up off the shelves. Something about that second “skin” or just feeling like you’re bringing out your wild side can make you feel confident. Many of our fave celebs have been known to rock this look on the red carpet, or a night out at a big event which of course makes them stand out. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian (Humphries!), Keri Hilson, & one of my faves Nicki Minaj have been known to shut this trend down. Apparel Candy is known for carrying all types of animal print garments, & we wont stop now. What I adore about this particular style & cut, is that it’s appropriate for a day time look say- at the office or school with a pair of flats or casual wedges. You can transition these pieces easily into the evening for cocktails just throwing on a pair of pumps to dress it up. The actual fabric has a bit of a sparkle on the (gold & bronze pieces) which dresses the look up. The grey & brown piece to the far left have a silky aesthetic which too dresses it up rather than down. I love that the skirt portion of the dress is simply black which makes it easy to throw on a belt to cinch in the waist to have that “color block” look; and also to accessorize. The slits at the arm are a lot of fun, & gives it a little bit of sexy meets sophistication. I’d also throw on a blazer on different occasion, because if there is one thing I hate, is feeling like I’ve worn an outfit 2 times too many. This look is just easy, & recyclable- which is what we all aim for isn’t it? Day to Evening!Wednesday, August 24th, 2011Left to Right: Right: What’s more amazing than the outfits put together!? They’re all available at www.apparelcandy.com ? Trendy ThursdaysThursday, July 21st, 2011Trendy Thursdays has just begun for us here at Apparel Candy. And to celebrate our self coined holiday we’re going to help all of you fashionistas keep up with Apparel Candy’s Summer 2011 Guide.
Bold colors are a Summer 2011 STAPLE. Bright Pinks, Blues, Yellows, Purples are super chic for the Summer. We threw in one of our floral pieces that has extra bold hues mixed in together. Our neon lemon dress (with white horizontal stripes) hit both our bold color & stripes trend happening this Summer. A hot pink bandeaux dress is perfect for pool side coverage right over that skimpy bikini. One of our favorite colors has to be the royal blue we have pictured to the left- perfect for day into night.
Stripes are also a big 2011 Summer Trend. Here are a few of our favorite striped trends: Women We LOVE <3 <3 <3Wednesday, July 20th, 2011This day of the week we will be celebrating talented, fierce, & fashionable women. Today happens to be Nicki Minaj. This talented singer/rapper has been hitting the radios of many. Her music is fun, uplifting, & just raw. I can’t get over how amazing she kills every beat she raps over. I’m sure not a lot of guys could hit notes & rap all in one song like she does. Fashion Fashion Fashion… SCHOOLTuesday, July 19th, 2011Thanks to fashionista.com the: TOP 20 FASHION SCHOOLS – came out a little more than a few days back. And my oh my, why am I not surprised that 3 out of the 5 fashion schools are all located in NY!? 1. PARSONS, THE NEW SCHOOL FOR DESIGN (NY) http://fashionista.com/2011/07/the-top-20-fashion-schools-in-the-united-states-the-fashionista-ranking/6/ It’s pretty interesting to see where each school has been ranked. I mean you usually hear Parsons all over Project Runway, & the Bravo Network, and I always thought it was solely because of advertising purposes since a lot of the filming for these reality competitions were filmed in their classrooms. Being that they are number one & featured on almost every fashion program is definitely a hit if you’re looking for an elite school for Fashion. Out here in LA all we hear about honestly is FIDM. FIDM this, FIDM that, but where are they ranked!? 13. 13 out of 20, not too shabby I suppose! The school noted is the LA Campus, so what about the OC & SD location? For all of you local Los Angelinos, or wherever you may be from in California.. The Academy of Art University San Francisco is ranked at the number 5 spot for this list. I’d say definitely look into this school. I mean sure you can save about $10,000-$20,00 dollars in tuition fees compared to FIDM, but after reading about each school, AAU SF is the only Fashion School that SHOWS AT FASHION WEEK. Opportunities like this are definitely a diamond in the rough. Can you imagine working on your last senior show…………..at NYFW !? How crazy is that? I personally have never been inside of AAU SF but I sure have been in & around SF and is definitely an amazingly cooky city that everyone should experience in their young adult lives.
![]() Housing, how cool is that!?
These pictures make me want to transfer out to SF! What do you think? Inspired FloralsTuesday, July 19th, 2011We all have things in our closets that probably portray exactly what is pictured below. So go digging into your closets, because mixing in with new is the NEW thing, & mixing expensive with chic cheap is amazing! If you’re like me & are the only girl out of four siblings you get most of your hand-me-down clothing from your mother as she ages (sorry, mom!) I absolutely adore the treasures my mom has passed me down. From floral dresses just like the one pictured, to Kenneth Jay Lane costume jewelry from the late 80′s- early 90′s to chic Texier leather goods, & by goods I mean LEATHER BAGS! So growing up, I was given all of these lovely treasures before I was even into fashion. I was still a kid trying to fit in, and the best way I did was playing soccer all my life. So anyway, I’d always keep things in my closet, more like bury them hoping no one would ever see them. (I always hated my girlfriends asking me to borrow things) I always thought to myself, “eh, I can wear this to SOMETHING when I get older.” So now, 22, & addicted to everything fashion- I have so many of these little treasures collected over the years. And OF COURSE who’d be the one to ask to “borrow” from me? My one & only MOTHER! I laugh all the time when my mom sees me walking in or out of the house wearing something she’s given me years & years ago, or even something my dad wanted to give her but refused. It never ever fails. So girls any time your mom, or older sisters & cousins pass you down something you aren’t too sure is your style just yet, keep it! You can always have these items as your first collectors, or even something to pass down to your younger siblings or even children.

So just to get you gals prepared for the amazing floral pieces Apparel Candy will be dropping oh-so-very soon- I put together a look that I think would work on any fashionista. This look is inspired by a spaghetti strap floral dress that was way too big for me at the time, that also had a serious tear at the seams, that my mom gave me. I totally sewed it all back up & wore it with a jean jacket over, with brown wedges similar to the Jeffrey Campbell’s pictured above. I picked the light necklaces just to layer over since the dress itself is loud all on its own. Pyramid earrings & vintage shades from apparelcandy.com fit simply & perfectly. Sneak-a-Peek!Monday, July 18th, 2011Apparel Candy is getting a lot of new fun items. So far florals & stripes are the patterns I’ve seen thus far!
